Anisa Subedar is an award-winning journalist who began her broadcasting career in radio, at BRMB in Birmingham in 1986 before joining the BBC in 2007. She has vast experience from working across a range of news and current affairs teams. Throughout her career, she has focused on reaching diverse and younger audiences through innovative storytelling.
As reporter and presenter for the BBC World Service, Anisa specialised in stories examining the influence of social media, the spread of global misinformation and disinformation, and their far-reaching impact on politics, communities, and everyday life. Through rigorous reporting and analysis, she helped global audiences better understand how the digital information environment shaped public opinion and behaviours. She later played a leading role in launching the BBC’s first Digital Current Affairs Unit, serving as Executive Producer and Director, overseeing short-form features and long-form documentaries for BBC iPlayer and news platforms.
As Senior News Editor for BBC News Investigations, Anisa commissioned and led impactful, original journalism that exposed wrongdoing, held powerful individuals and institutions to account, and delivered public-interest reporting of national significance. She is now News Editor for the BBC’s Culture and Royals team, leading coverage of major cultural, royal and national events.
