Emmerdale star wins 2025 Best TV Character award

Newcomer Shebz Miah picked up the Best TV Character Award at the Asian Media Awards

Journalists and filmmakers joined content creators and actors at the 13th ceremony in Manchester.

The awards celebrate achievements in a range of categories in journalism, investigations, TV, radio, stage, online and creative media.

The ceremony is supported by the University of Salford and took place at The Manchester Deansgate Hotel on Friday (October 31).

Shebz Miah was commended for his role as Kammy Hadiq in Emmerdale.

Shebz Miah has only been Kammy Hadiq in the soap Emmerdale since March but in a short period of time he has already become a fan favourite.

The charming Kammy was introduced to as a new love interest for Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), who was searching for a distraction after getting dumped by Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).

Later he became one of the central characters in the show, by portraying a real sense of loyalty towards his friend Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).

Miah made is acting debut in the BBC’s All the Small Things and in 2023, Miah has also appeared in an episode of the BBC soap opera Doctors.
