Students Manage Interviews At Shortlist Announcement

Media students from the University of Salford turned the tables on senior journalists, broadcasters and media professionals.

Ioan Bustean (Professional Sound and Video Techniques) and Grace Mailey (Journalism) were leading the team, managed interviews and filmed the 2018 Asian Media Awards Shortlist announcement.

Finalists joined partners and judging panel members at MediaCom London as finalists were unveiled for this year’s awards.

Paul Broster, Director of Journalism, Politics and History, said: “One of the many initiatives we work on with the Asian Media Awards is making sure our students get a real taste of working in the industry.

“Every year we set a team of students a challenge to film the big night, interview the stars on the blue carpet and create great content.

“It’s brilliant experience and has helped many gain the confidence and skills to go on to work for a range of media organisations.”

Umbreen Ali, Media Manager, said, “We are always delighted to be able to host students from the University who are an integral part of the awards.

“They conducted engaging interviews and it is interesting to see journalists being at the receiving end of questions for a change.”
