Miriam Walker-Khan was named 2025 Sports Journalist of the Year at the Asian Media Awards

Journalists and filmmakers joined content creators and actors at the 13th ceremony in Manchester.

The awards celebrate achievements in a range of categories in journalism, investigations, TV, radio, stage, online and creative media.

The ceremony is supported by the University of Salford and took place at The Manchester Deansgate Hotel on Friday (October 31). It follows a shortlist announcement which was held at BBC Broadcasting House in London.

Miriam Walker-Khan is the Diversity & Inclusion Reporter at Sky Sports News and during the qualifying period has reported on some of the biggest sporting events in the world.

Miriam was also one of only two reporters sent by Sky Sports News to cover the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the 2025 women’s Euros in Switzerland, and was the only reporter from Sky Sports to cover the Paralympic Games in 2024.

As well as her TV reporting, she has created multiple videos for Sky Sports platforms. Miriam released a mini-documentary in June, ahead of the Euros, Women on the Touchline, which explored coaches in women’s football.

She also worked on Beyond the Boundary which explored the story of South Asian cricketers in English history.

In 2024, she presented and co-produced Football’s Hidden Talent, a 6-part documentary.
